This devotional was born out of sheer necessity. It was one of those days where Finn clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed and wanted everyone to know it. I called an audible and we had a family devotional right then and there.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
Philippians 2:14-16
We discussed what it means to grumble (to complain, to whine – especially when you don’t get your way). We talked about why God doesn’t want us to whine and complain. We really focused on the part about shining like stars – it just so happened that we had watched a Paw Patrol episode that morning where Santa loses his Christmas star and can’t fly his sleigh. So we talked about the ramifications of Santa not having his star and how great it was once they found it again. The star shined brightly and had a lot of influence – just like how God wants us to be! Who knew Paw Patrol could turn into a Bible lesson?!
Since that devotional, I’ve referred back to this verse many times. And I can see why my parents had us memorize this one early on! I created a printable family devotional page as well as a coloring page for this devotional. You can click on the links below to download them immediately.
I hope this devotional is a helpful one for your family! Feel free to comment below and let me know how your family devotionals are going.
