If you’re looking for contemporary Christian songs that are upbeat, this is the spot for you. These high-energy praise and worship songs are perfect for working out, running, dancing, or just getting you in a better mood!
Recently I realized that most of the Christian worship music I listen to is slower and more soulful. This is perfect for prayer times or moments of reflection and communion with God. But sometimes I want to have fun, upbeat music in the house for myself and the kids to sing and dance to!
So that’s why I made this Spotify playlist of upbeat, fast-paced praise & worship songs that could be used for dance parties at home, working out, going for a run, or just to have an upbeat mood in the house.
I’m frequently adding to the list on Spotify, but I’ll highlight a few of my favorites here:
Echo (In Jesus’ Name) by People & Songs
There are so many awesome lines in this song, but I particularly love the third verse:
You crushed the darkness
Echo (In Jesus’ Name) by People & Songs
Made a fool of death and grave
Oh, King Jesus
You make royals out of slaves
And now there’s breakthrough
Now there’s freedom in Your name
You gave us power
And the keys to do the same
I also love the repetitive nature of the chorus. Kids could easily sing out “In Jesus’ Name!” I mean, what’s more powerful than that?!
Give Me Jesus by James Wilson
I love this high energy rendition of a powerful anthem. This is also a great one for kids because they can easily join into the chorus and all of the “hey, ey, ey’s”. The lyrics are also a potent reminder of what’s really important in this life:
This world is not my home
Give Me Jesus by James Wilson
I am just passing through
Earthly treasure soon will fail
But I found my hope
You are the one I want
You are the one I need
This world can have it all
It can take everything …
But give me Jesus
I can’t help but lift my hands during the chorus and sing at the top of my lungs: Give. Me. Jesus.

Glorious Day by Passion
This one has a slower build, but around 1:00 I would challenge even the most stoic among us to not show signs of a head bob or foot tapping to the beat. This is one of my favorite songs to sing at church and hear everyone shout-sing: “I ran outta that grave!”
I was breathing, but not alive
Glorious Day by Passion
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb
‘Til I met YouYou called my name
Then I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
Man of Your Word by Maverick City Music
This is another slow build song – and a long one too – but this song is my jam.
I love the repetitive nature of this song, it’s easy to sing along to, and this refrain is a wonderful reminder to me:
We have this confidence
Man of Your Word by Maverick City Music
You’ll finish what You started
God, You have never failed
You won’t start with me
You’re present in every step
Patient in every heartache
God, You have never failed
You won’t start with me
If you’re working out or running, you might want to move to the next song once the pace of the song gets slower, but otherwise this song is dynamic and invigorating.
Sing Wherever I Go by We The Kingdom
This is a fun song that I love to play with the kids. It’s a great morning song to set the mood in your house to be grateful and joyful. I also adore the live version of their popular song “For God So Loved.”
All my life
Sing Wherever I Go by We The Kingdom
All I know
God’s been good
Good to my soul
Mountain high
Valley low
I’m gonna sing wherever I go
Shake by MercyMe
This is a perfect song for dance parties in the kitchen with the kids! You can’t help but shake and laugh together. And how wonderful to be able to have this experience with a song about God and His power to change us.
Maybe He came to you
Shake by MercyMe
When everything seemed fine
Or maybe your world was upside down
And hit you right between your eye-eye-eyes
No matter when it happened
At ‘7 or ’95
Move your feet ’cause you are free
And you’ve never been more aliveYou gotta shake, shake, shake
Like you’re changed, changed, changed
Brand new looks so good on you
So shake like you’ve been changed
Another upbeat praise and worship song by MercyMe that I love is “Grace Got You.”
From The Day by I AM THEY
This is a great mood-boosting song that will re-train our eyes on Jesus’ saving power.
From the day You saved my soul
From the Day by I AM THEY
‘Til the very moment that I come home
I’ll sing, I’ll dance
My heart will overflow
From the day You saved my soul
Where brilliant light is all around
And endless joy is the only sound
Oh, rest my heart forever now
Oh, in Your arms I’ll always be found
The Remix Project
If you’re a fan of electronic music, this album is for you. This is a remix album of popular Christian worship songs remade with a more electric-pop vibe. Some of my favorite songs on the album are ‘Ever Be‘ and ‘Like a Lion.’
If you’re looking for upbeat, high-energy Christian praise & worship songs, I hope this list was helpful! Don’t forget to check out the Spotify playlist for even more songs.
